The Recruitment Process

When you apply to the Los Angeles Superior Court, you apply to become part of a quality pool of candidates - many of whom are selected to join one of our variety of critical teams.

The application process can look a little different depending on the specific job opportunity - but for most opportunities, the process will take up to 4 - 6 weeks to complete and look something like this...

  • APPLY

You've submitted your application. One of our dedicated team members will review your application to determine whether you meet the minimum requirements for the opportunity.

  • ASSESS

You've met the minimum qualifications and are invited to participate in an online assessments. These assessments are scored and will determine your placement on the eligible list.

  • ELIGIBLE LIST

You've passed your assessments and have been notified that you have been placed on the eligible list. You are now eligible to fill vacancies for the opportunity you applied for!

The recruitment process may vary.

Some recruitments include assessments, and some recruitments do not. Some recruitments take a little longer to complete than others.

No matter what, a Human Resources team member will notify you of the outcome after each step of the recruitment process, and we are here to answer your questions along the way!

What is an eligible list?

An eligible list is a pool of candidates who have successfully completed all steps of the recruitment process for a specific job opportunity. Your place on the eligible list is determined by your assessment score. When a hiring team needs to fill a vacancy, they will review and interview candidates from the eligible list. Candidates are considered by managers based on their placement on the eligible list.

It's important to know:

  • You can be on multiple eligible lists at once - you are not limited to one list.
  • Eligible lists expire. If you are not selected from a list before it expires, you will need to reapply to be placed on the new list!

Application Best Practices

Please carefully review the information below to ensure a seamless and successful application experience!

Complete the entire application.

The Court will reject incomplete applications. Refrain from leaving required sections incomplete or answering "N/A" on required questions.

A resume is not a substitute.

The Court will not consider a resume as a substitute for a fully completed application.

Review and attach all required documents.

An application missing required documentation will be considered incomplete. The Court reserves the right to verify all submitted documentation.

Be specific.

Clearly specify which work experience meets the required job qualifications and clearly describe your experience for each position.

Make your experience count.

Include beginning and end dates and hours worked for each job you held. The Court cannot qualify experience that we cannot count.

Review and spellcheck your application!

If you are placed on an eligible list and referred for a vacancy, hiring managers will receive your completed application - put your best foot forward!

Provide a current and accurate email address.

The Court will communicate with you throughout the application process via email.
