Los Angeles Superior Court is one of 58 superior courts in California and is the only court serving Los Angeles County. This jurisdiction covers an area that includes 88 cities, 140 unincorporated areas, and more than 90 law enforcement agencies, serving a population of over 10.4 million. The Court operates 36 courthouses distributed across 12 judicial districts within the county’s 4,752 square miles.
As the largest trial court in the nation, its 582 judicial officers hear and adjudicate a comprehensive range of case types under state law, including civil, criminal, family law, juvenile dependency and delinquency, mental health, probate, and traffic cases. With an annual budget exceeding $1 billion, the Court’s 4,800 employees serve millions of residents and litigants each year.
